Our History
Established in 2002
In 2002, Sylvie and Yvon were looking for their next venture. Retirement was on the horizon and the opportunity to purchase what is now Boisé Brabant presented itself. Their Christmas tree farm has been a labour of love over the years, with constant growth and improvements. But along the way, the land developped into a refuge where their family could come together and enjoy nature. Along with the development of the Christmas tree farm, the family also continued to grow. Sylvie and Yvon are parents to their three children Angèle (Luc Millette), Céline (Stéphane Côté) and Nicolas (Jessica Dubois) and have been blessed with nine grandchildren, Caleb Millette, Xavier Millette, Emma Millette, Olivia Millette, Mathis Côté, Rémi Côté, Oli Côté, Bayla Brabant and Maximus Brabant. Over the years, the farm has become both a special gathering place for the Brabant family and a labour of love that now includes three generations.
Our Christmas Trees
Types of trees
Many types of Christmas trees are available:
Balsam Fir
Fenced in for protection from the deer
Recognized for its very pleasant aroma
The branches are not as strong so the decorations have to be installed further up on the branch to prevent them from falling
Fraser Fir
Fenced is for protection from the deer
Nice dark green
The branches are stronger than those of the balsam fir
White Spruce
Not fenced in because the deers do not eat it
The branches are stronger
You can get a bigger skirt than from a fir tree
Please contact Yvon if you wish to purchase a spruce tree taller than 14 feet
Blue Spruce
The needles are prickly (leather gloves are needed to carry it)
The branches are more spaced. Very nice if you need more space for bigger ornaments
The needles are a very nice blue color
White Pine, Jack Pine and Hemlock
These three varieties have been planted in 2021
The needles of the White Pine are very soft
The Jack Pine and the Hemlock already show potential as a future Christmas Tree.
Wildlings
To increase the number of Christmas trees available for our clients we are presently
working at cleaning up a field where we can find many wildlings (uncultivated spruce
trees).
These wildlings are available at a price lower than the cultivated Christmas trees.
Maintenance
The maintenance of the Christmas Tree plantation is done with mechanical equipment and much manual work by three generations of the Brabant family. There are no pesticides used on this farm.
The trees cut during Christmas time are replaced manually the following spring and/or autumn.
Our Maple Syrup
In 2020, Yvon and Sylvie built a sugar shack and are now crafting syrup from the maple water from 325 red maples located on the farm.
Our family boiled maple syrup is available for purchase year-round and also available at the tree farm during the sales period of the Christmas trees.
